Tom Dennis enjoys the solitude of
'throwing pots' in his Lake Farm studio tucked away at the north end
of the island. His particular piece of Denman paradise is nestled
between hayfields and a lovely garden buzzing with hummingbirds in
springtime and dragonflies during the warm summer months. Tall,
cylindrical wood-fired vases in this potter's display room are awash
in golden hues and rainbow splashes of colour.
Dennis is constantly experimenting with
glaze combinations, ranging from robin egg to midnight blue and mauve
to candy red on a multitude of vessel forms. Below are a few glaze 'tests', that aid the artist in selecting the perfect combination for new works.
